All that Thanksgiving turkey must have slowed you all down a bit, because despite the nice-ish weather we had just 19 trip reports filed in the last week!
Hikers are checking out the new trail to Mount Tenerife outside of North Bend, also known (controversially) as the trail to Kamikaze Falls. The Department of Natural Resources is putting the finishing touches on this trail right now, and Alpine Joe reported on December 4 that "the new trail is in fantastic condition, with only a few culverts left to be completed."
Looking for an easy hike and fun snowshoe off Highway 2? Janice Van Cleve recommends Heybrook Lookout, which is chock full of snow at the moment, and says "the views from the lookout are fabulous, especially of Mount Index and Mount Baring."
In the Olympics, Shawnie Whelan reported on conditions at Big Creek and Mount Ellinor: "It was truly a winter wonderland up there and I was glad to have my snow shoes for the traction even though I did not need them for flotation."
