Two New Knothead Views of the Little Spokane

In the last few years, WTA's trail maintenance volunteers have been working improving and expanding the extensive trail system at Riverside State Park outside Spokane. Volunteers broke ground on the new Knothead Trail in 2013. This spring, they completed work on a new section of the trail that takes hikers to two scenic viewpoints overlooking the Little Spokane River.

Fire news

Unfortunately, the Knothead trail is in the path of a wildfire, currently uncontained, and the main access at Indian Painted Rocks is currently closed. (as of 7/9/2015) See more at http://www.spokesman.com/blogs/outdoors/2015/jul/08/little-spokane-river-fire-closes-painted-rocks-trailhead/

Fire update

As of 7/23, the Knothead trail has been reopened. The Little Spokane River trail is still closed, so it's not possible to hike the loop. See: http://www.spokesman.com/blogs/outdoors/2015/jul/23/little-spokane-river-shuttle-resumes-after-fire-closure-trails-open/
