In the next month, community leaders from around the state will be converging on two terrific trail conferences to tackle the challenges facing trails and to chart a way into the future.

The health and equity of Pierce County depends on trails
ForeverGreen Trails in Pierce County is organizing the 2016 Pierce County Trails Conference. The Sept. 29 event will be a terrific opportunity to learn and help inform the future of far more than just trails in the county. The program will be looking into how trails are related to health and equity through transportation.
The one-day (and very affordable) conference is open to anyone who cares deeply about trails. Come learn from panels that include WTA staffers. Learn about the latest on Pierce County trails, take a guided walk on the Prairie Line Trail, and catch dinner with like-minded neighbors.
Washington State Trails Conference in Richland
This biannual, three-day conference brings together land managers, nonprofits and advocates from around the state to talk about trails and the many ways they connect our communities.
From urban city trails to mountain bike trails to backcountry hiking trails, the conference is an opportunity for the larger trail community to exchange information, learn from each other, and tackle some of the challenges of the future.
New this year is the WSTC Trail Awards Program, highlighting exceptional work and achievements with Washington state trails. Award winners will be announced at Friday night's reception at the REACH Museum.
