Survey: Share Your Thoughts on the Discover Pass

Two months ago marked the beginning of Washington's Discover Pass. That's the new $30 vehicle access pass that is now required for entrance to state lands including all State Parks, Department of Natural Resource lands (like Mount Si) and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife lands.

Before July 1, entrance to State Parks and DNR lands was free. These agencies were previously funded through the state budget from tax revenue. All that changed when Washington state faced several consecutive budget shortfalls totaling nearly $15 billion over the last three legislative sessions.

When state lands faced inevitable closure earlier this year, WTA fought and won for passage of a user fee for state lands to help keep State Parks and DNR lands open and hikeable.
