One of the upsides of getting snowed in? It gives hikers a push to discover those magical places that you can walk out your front door and enjoy. A strong trail system, like what we strive for in Washington, begins with trails close to home — and extends all the way out into the deep backcountry. While our stunning National Parks and iconic alpine destinations usually garner most of the attention — sometimes it takes a little snowstorm to see the value of trails in your own backyard.
