Trail maintenance volunteers recently received a big boost from REI in the form of a $20,000 grant for WTA's trail maintenance program.A corporate team from REI spent the day working at Cougar Mountain.

The REI grant is helping put WTA crew leaders on the ground where they're needed most this summer, and outfitting volunteer crews with tools and supplies. The result? WTA's youth and adult volunteers have put in nearly 30,000 hours of stewardship on their favorite trails since the beginning of July. Wow!

REI has long been a key partner in WTA's trail maintenance work. In addition to providing essential funding, REI stores help promote work parties across the state and employees regularly pitch in for a day of trail work.

This coming weekend, you'll find WTA crews working on the Wonderland Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail (near Stirrup Lake). You'll also find them at Church Mountain, Lake Serene, West Fork Foss River, Glacier View, and Iller Creek. Be sure to say "thanks" to our volunteers - and to REI - as you pass by.
