The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is launching a planning process that will culminate in a plan to manage DNR recreation, conservation and trust lands. This is a great opportunity to get involved the long-term outlook for some of our most prized hiking lands!

The kick-off is a public meeting and open house on Wednesday, January 18, from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Snoqualmie Middle School, 9200 Railroad Ave SE, Snoqualmie. The meeting will be held in the Commons Room.

The planning process will address Tiger Mountain State Forest, Mount Si NRCA, Rattlesnake Mountain Scenic Area, the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA) and the Raging River State Forest. The latter two also need of management plans and are likely to receive additional attention in the process. This is a huge landscape threaded with trails, and the process should take some time. But the potential payoff for hikers of being engaged from the beginning will be equally as large.

The meeting will be in open house format, which will include a brief presentation on the scope of planning, followed by an opportunity to circulate around listening stations where you'll learn more about recreation on DNR lands in the Snoqualmie Corridor and provide land managers with your views.

Several of us from WTA will be attending this meeting, and we hope to see you there!
