It’s going to be a wet weekend in Western Washington, and rain in the lowlands means snow in the mountains. The Snoqualmie Lake Trailhead and trail will be closed for about a month to facilitate trailhead expansion and improvements. Wet weather in Western Washington: Forecasts are showing multiple days of rain this weekend and into early next week all across Western Washington. Forgot how to hike in the rain? We’ve got you covered.
WTA talks forest service funding: As a member of the Outdoor Alliance Washington, WTA and partners met with Representative Derek Kilmer and Forest Service staff in Olympic National Forest to chat about local implementation of Great American Outdoors Act projects.
Snoqualmie Lake area closure: The Snoqualmie Lake Trailhead and trail are currently closed while a trailhead improvement project is completed. The trailhead will be expanded, and a toilet will be installed. Road 5640 will also be closed for road improvements related to the project. The area should reopen sometime in mid-November when the project is completed.
Upcoming delays on Highway 101: Expect delays on the section of Highway 101 along the shore of Lake Crescent while crews remove hazard trees near the road. The delays will take place on weekdays over the course of four weeks starting October 26. Longer delays are scheduled for 6 specific days in November.
Lost Trails Found this summer: As our summer season of backcountry trail work is wrapping up, we're taking a look back at our work on lost trails across the state. A statewide effort from volunteers improved several sections of the Pacific Northwest Trail, and WTA’s first ever backcountry pro crew got an incredible amount of work done throughout the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest this summer.
