Here’s what you might have missed while out on trail this week:
Trip reporter rachellemb found winter in full force in Mount Spokane State Park this week. Check winter hours before you head out.
Catch the last bus: This weekend is your last chance to catch the Trailhead Direct shuttle this season. The shuttle will be running it's usual routes to Mount Si, Mailbox Peak, Cougar Mountain and the Issaquah Alps through Sunday.
Winter is coming: Washington State Parks is shifting into winter mode. Most parks stay open all winter, but some will be closed or have reduced hours. Many parks still offer camping during the winter or, if you prefer, cozy cabins or yurts are available to rent.
Speak up for the Gorge: What makes a trail network sustainable? The public is invited to share their thoughts on that issue to help shape the future of the Columbia River Gorge and its amazing trails. WTA is very active in the process, and it was the focus on our Hiker Potluck in the area over the summer. We’ve also been working hard with partners for many years to help build a trail system that lasts.
News you can use: As the weather is shifting, sometimes from minute to minute, trip reports are particularly valuable! If you’re heading out, please be sure to share a trip report and let fellow hikers know what the conditions were like. And if you’re heading out to hike, always check conditions first.
