It's April 25. Pink is for safety. Spring is for celebrating national parks And bats needs us humans to take care of them. Here’s some hiker news that you may have missed while out on trail this week.

It's April 25. Pink is for safety. Spring is for celebrating National Parks. And bats needs us humans to take care of them. 

Here’s some hiker news that you may have missed while out on trail this week.

Pink for safety: Want to stay safe during hunting season? You will soon be able to wear fluorescent pink as a state-approved color for hunters. And if it will work for hunters, it will work for hikers.

Be nice to bats: Recently, a new species of bat was found to have been infected with the deadly white-nose syndrome. While we’re sharing reminders, let us remind you what you can do to keep bats safe. (And seriously. We want to keep bats safe. They eat mosquitoes.)

For the love of national parks: National Parks Week continues through April 28. If you can, go visit one of our state's national parks. And for even more inspiration, a new book has a guide to 59 all across the country. 

Climbing ranger gigs: If you've always wanted to be a climbing ranger, there are two Forest Service volunteer ranger opportunities you could check out. One is in the Methow Valley Ranger District and the other is in the Wenatchee River Ranger District. WTA is also still hiring.
