Happy hiking!

Enchantments permit lottery opens: The Enchantments lottery opens Feb. 15 and will close on March 1. Fill out an application on recreation.gov. Olympic, Mount Rainier and North Cascades national park early-access lotteries are also starting soon. Learn everything you need to know about backcountry and wilderness permits before reservation windows kick off to make sure you get those applications in on time.

National Park Service wants your thoughts: North Cascades National Park is inviting the public to voice their thoughts on two projects within the park. One involves rerouting a section of the Brush Creek Trail and relocating the Graybeal hiker and stock camps. Another involves building more backcountry camp accommodations for Six Mile and Bridge Creek camps along the Pacific Crest Trail, largely for PCT long-distance hikers. Comments will be accepted online through March 8.

Volcano Week: This week is Volcano Week! The theme this year is “Last and Future Eruptions,” and the National Park Service is sharing interesting information on volcanoes on its website. North Cascades National Park and Mount Rainier National Park also shared some fun tidbits and helpful knowledge on volcanoes — check it out!
