Here at WTA we get pretty excited about Hike-a-Thoners. Why? Because Hike-a-Thon participants are amazing members of our hiking community who give back to the trails they love by hiking all August long. And you can be one of them!

Hike-a-Thon basics

Hike-a-Thon is a benefit for WTA that gives you the opportunity to hike all over named trails in August while being sponsored per mile, hike or at a flat rate by your friends, co-workers, family or hikers you meet on trail. Not only are you protecting trails across the state, but you're also competing for some pretty neat prizes from our generous sponsors.

Who does Hike-a-Thon?

We have Hike-a-Thon participants ranging from volunteers to our four-legged, leashed hiking pups, from families and youth to trail runners, teams and individuals.

Do it for trails. (And for prizes.)

This year a few new special prize categories include:

• "Under-documented" trail BINGO. Prizes are available for the first Hike-a-Thoners to mail in their BINGO card with 5 completed hikes in a row with Trip Reports and photos submitted for those Trip Reports.
• Most nights under the stars. A prize is available for Hike-a-Thoner with the most overnight or multi-day trips with Trip Reports and photos submitted. The winner of this gets a Therm-a-Rest Sleeping Bag and NeoAir All Season Mattress.
• Alpine Lakes Wilderness hikes. To qualify for this drawing, Hike-a-Thoners will write a letter to their representative about supporting the expansion of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area and send a copy to us at WTA. For each subsequent trip report you submit from the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area, your name will be entered one time in the drawing. More hikes and Trip Reports are more chances to win!
