Construction work on Hart's Pass Road begins August 14. Expect delays and closures in some areas.

Hart's Pass Road in the North Cascades near Mazama will be undergoing construction starting on August 14. The Okanogan-Wentachee National Forest says work to improve the Slate Peak parking lot and repair runoff damage will also take place.

Hikers should still be able to walk up to Slate Peak from the Buckskin trailhead, which leads to Buckskin Ridge, through the work site.
