Hart's Pass Road Repairs Begin Aug. 14
Construction work on Hart's Pass Road begins August 14. Expect delays and closures in some areas.
Hart's Pass Road in the North Cascades near Mazama will be undergoing construction starting on August 14. The Okanogan-Wentachee National Forest says work to improve the Slate Peak parking lot and repair runoff damage will also take place.
The road is a popular access point to the Pacific Crest Trail, and has a few famously narrow sections.

In a release, the Forest Service said, "travelers should expect longer delays, and the road between Buckskin Trailhead and Slate Peak will likely be closed to vehicles until mid-September."
Hikers should still be able to walk up to Slate Peak from the Buckskin trailhead, which leads to Buckskin Ridge, through the work site.
Hart's Pass provides access to:
- Holman Pass
- Rainy Pass to Manning Park
- Slate Peak
- Buckskin Ridge
- Windy Pass
- Tatie Peak and Grasshopper Pass
