Give Today to Double Your Impact!

Protect the trails you love and help WTA start strong in the New Year. Here are five great ways to support WTA this season.

Trails give us so much joy throughout the year. Whether you live for the challenge of scaling the tallest peak or a lazy river ramble is more your speed, Washington’s wild places are a source of peace, wonder and inspiration.

You can give back to the trails you love by supporting WTA. And when you give today, your gift will go twice as far! Thanks to an inspiring challenge, each dollar you contribute between now and year-end will be matched, dollar for dollar up to $100,000!

We’ll put your contribution to work right away in 2015, preserving backcountry trails like the wild and remote Larch Lakes Loop on Entiat Mountain. Your gift will also help expand close-to-home hiking opportunities across the state, like Antoine Peak near Spokane, Squak and Taylor Mountains near Seattle and Vancouver Lake in Vancouver.

Strong support for WTA means a strong voice for hikers in Olympia and Washington DC. Washington Trails Association works hard to protect trails and the wildlands they travel, from the lush temperate rainforests on the Olympic Peninsula to the desert shrub-steppe of the Yakima Basin and beyond.

Do you rely on wta.org and our Hiking Guide to plan your adventures? Hit the trail in 2015 knowing you’ve done your part to give back to this amazing resource. Please consider making a gift to WTA this holiday season. No amount is too small, and all gifts are fully tax-deductible.

You can donate online, or send a check to:

Tribute Gifts. A gift to Washington Trails Association is a meaningful way to honor special people and events in your life, and make a difference for our trails and wildlands. When you make a tribute gift, we'll send a personalized greeting card, including a special message from you, to let your honoree or his or her family know of your generous gift.

Gift Memberships. Share your love of trails with a loved one – give a WTA Gift Membership! We’ll send the lucky recipient a card, notifying them of your gift, a WTA window decal, and a WTA cap they can wear proudly on trail. Throughout the year they will receive all the benefits of membership, including a subscription to Washington Trails magazine. It’s the perfect gift for the hiker on your list! Purchase by Dec. 15 to guaranty delivery in time for Christmas.

Stock Donations. Gifts of stocks, bonds and mutual funds can be a tax-smart way to support Washington Trails Association. Making your gift is easy. If you hold stocks or bonds with a broker, you may transfer the securities electronically. In order to facilitate the acceptance and acknowledgment of your stock gift, please notify us of your name and the name of the stock and number of shares being donated. Planned Giving. Have you been looking for a way to make a generous gift to WTA without dipping into your checking or savings account? If you're over 70½, you can transfer up to $100,000 from your IRA to WTA in 2014 without paying any federal income tax. And, this gift may be made over and above the other charitable gifts you already make! Your gift can be made simply by notifying your IRA plan custodian of your intent to make a current transfer to WTA or another charitable organization. It's a win-win! A planned gift to Washington Trails Association—including wills, trusts, retirement plans, real estate and insurance policies—is a powerful and thoughtful way to share your dedication to Washington's trails and wildlands with future generations.
