This month WTA is working in several locations that need some special attention, and we'd love to have your help! Join us for a day full of safety, fun, and work, and make your mark on the trails you love.

Puget Sound - Noble Knob

August 8, 12 - 17, 19 - 22

Update: 8/12/2014 - Due to a forest fire in the Noble Knob wilderness, the work parties for this area have been moved to the Palisades area. For more information about these new locations, please check our volunteer work party page.

WTA has lots of work to do on the trails in this area, so the time we spend here will be spent doing a variety of projects. These include tread work, constructing waterbars and repairing drainage. There may also be a couple of projects building turnpike in wet meadow areas. Finally we may get to do some logging out on the trails that connect to the valleys surrounding Corral Pass.

These will be fun work parties in a beautiful area of the central Cascades, and if you'd like to volunteer for several days in a row, free camping is available at the Corral Pass campground.

Eastern Washington - Mount Spokane State Park

August 14, 16, 17, 18

Mount Spokane has many great hiking, biking, and equestrian trails -- day hikes that easily accommodate all interests and abilities. Because the trails are used year-round, they require frequent maintenance to withstand the impact of feet, tires, and hooves that visit this area.

This is a new project on Mount Spokane where we will be installing several bridges out of native materials along the 100 trail just above the lower Kit Carson Loop Trail. Bridge-building is fun and educational, and we hope you will join us to help the park upgrade these trails.

It's time to start digging! A new trail project is underway at Whipple Creek and WTA crews will be putting in a new tread base for a trail that will eventually be graveled. Come lend a hand and help build a meandering path through a tall cottonwood forest bordered by wetlands. In addition to creating new tread, we'll be brushing along the new trail corridor.

Olympic Peninsula - Upper Skokomish Weekender

August 16, 17

Come work on a primitive trail that heads into Olympic National Forest and Park. WTA needs help completing general trail maintenance on this trail, including a logout, check step construction, brushing, tread work, and drainage on a couple of different sections of trail.

As a weekend work party, you can camp Saturday night if you would like to sign up for the entire weekend. On Saturday, WTA will provide the main course for an evening potluck; just bring a side dish to share. If you can't stick around all weekend, just let us know when you sign up.
