Federal and state public lands agencies have recently announced their fee free days for 2013. These are dates where you can park at trailheads or recreation facilities without hanging a Northwest Forest Pass or Discover Pass or paying an entrance fee. WTA has compiled all 19 of the dates, along with which agencies are recognizing them.

Federal and state public lands agencies have recently announced their fee free days for 2013. These are dates where you can park at trailheads or recreation facilities without hanging a Northwest Forest Pass or Discover Pass or paying an entrance fee.

We've compiled all of the 2013 dates below - 19 of them - along with which agencies are recognizing each date. Some dates, say Martin Luther King Jr. Day, are fee-free across all federal and state agencies. Others, such as National Trails Day, are recognized only by one agency (Washington State Parks).

Also note that Washington State Parks is the only state public lands agency that has fee free days. The Department of Natural Resources and Washington Fish & Wildlife have none.

If this all seems too complicated, you'll want to purchase annual passes. See our Recreation Pass Info page for details. Changes have also recently been made to the state Discover Pass, making it transferable between two vehicles and allowing for a flexible start date.
