Entiat Campgrounds Set to Reopen in Time for Labor Day

Land managers on the Entiat Ranger District have been working tirelessly to set up fire containment lines and reopen portions of the Entiat River Valley after decreasing activity from the Cougar Creek Fire.

Thanks to their hard work, recreationists longing to camp and explore in the Entiat River Valley, will now have that opportunity. Starting on August 31, visitors will now be able to access the Fox Creek, Silver Falls, Lake Creek and Cottonwood campgrounds just in time for the long weekend. Trails within the Entiat portion of the Glacier Peak Wilderness and along the Chiwawa River Road will also be open for use.

The closures along the Mad River, Upper Mad River, Potato Creek, Mud Creek and Tommy Creek are still in effect as the forest service continues ongoing suppression actions.

Although certain areas will be reopened to the public, James Simino, Entiant District Ranger, stated that “Public and firefighter safety remain our number one priority, so we encourage people to use caution as fire fighters and fire vehicle traffic will be in the area.”

Many fire closures remain in place at various campgrounds and trails located in the Entiat River Valley, so visitors are encouraged to check the interactive closure map before heading out.
