Winter
Trip reporter sarinaclark explored the sunny side of the state during the chilly winter months and traversed the sandy slopes of the Hanford Reach National Monument.
Trip reporter shelbypothier explored close-to-home urban trails at Bridle Trails State Park.
Trip reporter Rob Portinga found that he was above the clouds that covered lower elevations when he headed up for a snowshoe trip at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympics.
Spring
Trip reporter David Hagen visited Snow Mountain Ranch for a quick afternoon walk. He spotted some lovely wildflowers — and even saw a great-horned owl with three chicks in the nest.
Trip reporter Mirek took a walk in the woods and came across some lingering lowland snow and plenty of photo opportunities along the Upper Dungeness River trail.
Trip reporter ehiker caught some fascinating spring wildlife at the Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge — including these two dueling birds.
Summer
Trip reporter Hwei Ling Ng enjoyed a beautiful end-of-summer backpack trip in the North Cascades with friends. The group took a long loop trip, with some detours to scramble Black Peak along the way.
Trip reporter alinajam3s spent a sunny summer day close to home at Cama Beach State Park, exploring the driftwood and watching the tide
Trip reporter skygyspy ended the summer with a 3-day solo backpacking trip along the Loowit Trail — only running into seven other hikers during their trip!
Fall
Trip reporter Suzanne Gagnet visited Carne Mountain on an overall gray and drizzly day. But even without the expansive views of surrounding peaks, the scene was stunning with vivid larches and other colorful plants that added a lot of pizazz to the scenery.
Trip reporter nspence opted for some snowier landscapes near Deer Park and Maiden Peak to spend an early November weekend.
Just as fall was coming to a close, trip reporter Wild Side visited the misty forests of the East Fork Foss for a peaceful trek along a usually bustling trail.
