A big tip of the hard hat to the 1,750 volunteers who helped WTA keep our state's trails in great shape in 2006!

As Chris Bell writes in an article in the January/February issue of Washington Trails, those dedicated volunteers

"arrived at the trailhead, ready to work without regard to how far they needed to travel, or the rain or cold they sometimes confronted. They happily grabbed tools and went to work making sure our hiking trails were the best they could be."

Trail crew at HoldenOur total volunteer hours in 2006 hit a new record: 74,941--far exceeding our previous record of 67,000 hours.

Congratulations to all of you, that's a huge accomplishment! Your fellow hikers are extremely grateful to all those days hefting Pulaskis, cutting brush and fixing trail tread.

Never been on a trail work party? It's fun, and after a difficult year of storms and fire damage, our trails will need your help more than ever. Resolve in 2007 to join at least one work party if you've never before. Help us set and even higher record this year!
