Popular with hikers, mountain bikers and off-road vehicle users, this multi use trail climbs out of the Lewis River Valley into the forested hills above.
Departing the trailhead, hike uphill through a mature forest for a mile, before linking up with with Cussed Hollow Trail about a mile from the trailhead. Passing this junction, continue on and cross the headwaters of Copper Creek via a bridge with a nearby campsite. Continuing on, you'll pass two tree plantations which are used for timber harvesting in the forest. Both plantations are before arriving at an intersection between the trail and Forest Road 93.
To continue on, cross FR 93 and hike another mile to the intersection of Forest Road 9327- 040 and Forest Road 9327. This is also the beginning of Craggy Peak Trail. Pass through this intersection, to Wright Meadows, where elk can often be seen grazing.
While Wright Meadow is an excellent destination, you can continue on through the meadow, crossing Forest Road 9327 again before starting its descent to Clear Creek. A ford allows you to cross Clear Creek before ascending to a bench. The trail then drops to Elk Creek before climbing to Forest Road 2259-101.
