Hiking West Port Madison Nature Preserve

This nature preserve has a network of trails that wind through the trees and out to bluffs above Puget Sound. Along the way visitors can keep an eye out for the multitude of bird species that frequent this patch of land. As the trail approaches the water views will open up. With 0.4 miles of trails, this park is a great option for a short escape. Two walk-in picnic shelters are another way to enjoy this area. Dogs are allowed on leash, and there are five parking spots at the trailhead.

Getting There

From the Bainbridge Island ferry dock head straight on WA-305 for 6.0 miles, then turn right onto NE Port Madison Rd. for 1.0 mile. This road will turn to the right and become NE County Park Rd. The park entrance will be on the left, a few hundred feet later.

Take Transit

Kitsap Transit routes 91, 333, and 390 all stop at the intersection of WA-305 and NE Port Madison Rd., which is 1.1 miles from the trailhead.
