Hiking West Fork Agnes Creek

The West Fork Agnes Creek trail used to head west from Fivemile Camp on the Pacific Crest Trail (also known here as the South Fork Agnes Creek Trail).

Now, the trail is all but vanished. Navigating it is a rough bushwhack along the West Fork of Agnes Creek, with no destination except the base of 8115-foot Agnes Mountain.

To find the former trail, hike south on the Pacific Crest Trail out of High Bridge in Stehekin 5.5 miles to Fivemile Camp. The West Fork Trail heads west where the clearly outlined trail turns south.

Getting There

Travel to the town of Chelan and find your way to the Lady of the Lake ferry terminal. Ticket prices for the ferry vary depending on which ferry you take and what season you visit; check them at ladyofthelake.com.

Once you're in Stehekin, make arrangements to get to High Bridge. The easiest way to do this is to take a bus. There are four shuttles each day. You can also rent bikes, though keep in mind it's a 14 mile-long ride to the trailhead for the Pacific Crest Trail, which is your access point for the West Fork Agnes Creek trail.
