Hiking Wapato Lake Park

Wapato Lake Park has all the amenities of a big local park—several picnic areas, three restrooms, two dog parks—but the draw for hikers will be the loop trail around the lake.

This trail encircles the lakeshore in just under a mile and delivers hikers back to the start.

Getting There

From I-5 take exit 130 and head west on 56th St, taking the first right turn onto S Alaska St. for 1.0 mile. Turn left on S Ainsworth Ave. and the park entrance will quickly be on your left. Stay left upon entry to get to the parking area at the southern end of the lake. Stay right upon entry to access a second parking area closer to the middle of the lake. Both have access to the loop trail and restrooms.

Take Transit:

Route 48 stops at the corner of Sheridan Ave. and 72nd St. and at the intersection of Sheridan Ave. and 68th St. Both are very close to the park entrance.
