Verlot Nature Trail

The Verlot Nature Trail is an unsigned trail that connects the Verlot and Turlo Campground.

One can either start the hike at Verlot or Turlo Campground. If starting from the Verlot Campground, when facing the river, go right towards campsite #3, and the trail starts on the right of the campsite.

You will pass a sign that talks about the salmon and trout in the forest stream first, then cross a bridge immediately after the sign. The trail is lined with plenty of old growth hemlocks, firs, cedars, and ferns to admire.

The trail borders the South Fork Stillaguamish River. After 0.13 miles, it spits you out to a day use area. You will find a picnic bench with a great view of the South Fork Stillaguamish River here, along with an old mining cart filled with fake gold, a giant slice of a tree and another sign that talks about the area. 

Follow along the parking day use area, and you will find the trail again, at the west end, following the river. This part of the trail goes along a cliff, so watch your footstep here. The trail eventually ends at the entrance into Turlo Campground. 

Neither campground offer day use parking but you can park your car at the day use area in the middle of the trail and go towards either campground from there. 

WTA Pro Tip: Both the Verlot and Turlo Campgrounds have small sandy beaches that would be a great place to go for a swim on a warm day.
