Hiking Upper and Lower Wolf Trails

Right on the edge of Newport is a small trail network, with 2.5 miles of trails for hikers, mountain bikers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers to explore. Hikers can wander through the Upper Wolf Trail System on the west side of Highway 20, and the Lower Wolf Trail System on the east. In the right season, hikers can encounter wildflowers. The trail system is open from sunrise to sunset.

Getting There

The trail system is just outside of Newport. From Spokane, head north on Route 2 and continue for 38 miles. In Newport, turn left onto S Calispel Avenue. In 0.4 miles, turn right onto 1st Street, then immediately turn left onto N Calispel Avenue. The street will shortly become Spruce Street; turn left onto N Fea Avenue. In a quarter mile, then left onto Lauralhurst Drive. In 0.4 miles, the parking lot will be on the left.
