Ascend through a valley in cool green forest on tread kept in great condition by WTA volunteers. The way is steep and never in sight of Tunnel Creek until the final quarter mile.
At 1.6 miles, arrive at Hope Lake. Just beyond is the Pacific Crest Trail, and another half mile brings you to Mig Lake and some camps. Further north are the high alpine lakes of Swimming Deer, Susan Jane and Lake Josephine.

Getting There
From Seattle, drive north on I-5 to Everett and take exit 194 onto Highway 2. Drive east on Highway 2. Continue past the town of Skykomish for approximately 12 miles, until the sharp hairpin turn. Immediately after the Tunnel Creek bridge, turn right onto Forest Service Road 6095 (only possible from eastbound lane).
Remain on the main road until the junction at 1.2 miles. Keep left, steeply up FSR 115 (6095), and at 1.3 miles you'll arrive at the Tunnel Creek trailhead.
