Branching off the Sand Ridge trail just beyond Twin Sisters Lake, this trail leads to an old lookout site atop Tumac Mountain and travels through sub-alpine slopes, before traversing and switchbacking up this volcanic cinder cone.

The trailhead for this hike is between Yakima and Mount Rainier off of highway 410. Approaching from either direction, turn south onto Bumping Lake Road, found roughly 22 miles from Cayuse Pass if you're coming from the west or 28 miles from the junction of Highways 410 and 12 if coming from the east.
Bumping Lake road is paved, but after 11 miles of driving, it turns to dirt and is moderately rough. 1.5 miles after it turns rough, a left hand fork guides you onto Deep Creek Road (FS 1808).
This road will dead end after eight miles at the Deep Creek Campground and your trailhead.
