This is reportedly the highest Sno-Park in the state (5,575 feet). This ungroomed area has a nice loop route with superb snowshoe opportunities to the south of the pass just off Highway 20 in the Northeast corner of the state.
Accessed from the Kettle Crest Trailhead, this trail connects with Kettle Crest South Trail #13 on the North and South of Sherman Peak. It provides an opportunity for a 6 mile loop.Views from the trail stretch from Canada, Columbia River Valley, Okanogan Highlands, and the Southern end of the Kettle Mountain Range.
Some previous snowshoe experience helpful. Some winter survival skills recommended (basic knowledge of avalanche evaluation, emergency shelter construction, etc.). Make sure that someone in your party is well versed in routefinding, avalanche avoidance, and avalanche rescue techniques.
For info, visit the Colville National Forest or call (509)738-7700. Sno-Park pass required.
