Try this trail for a short leg-stretcher.
Beginning from the trailhead, your route starts by crossing a bridge across the river from the parking lot picnic area. It is marked by a sign: "Forest Loop Trail". After the bridge, the trail goes downhill to an interpretive sign and a fork in the trail.
You can follow the loop in either direction as it goes through a mossy forest, and along the Satsop River for a short while. In spring expect to see flowers, in summer berries! The loop is divided by trail partway through, which you can take to make the total hike about a half-mile instead of the full 1.3 miles.
The way is mostly flat and level, meaning it's a great option for people hiking with kids.
WTA Pro Tip: In addition to the loop trail, there are several small connector trails in the campground. If you're staying here, be sure to check those out, too!
