This snowshoe route follows Forest Road 27 northwest from the Meadow Mountain Trailhead. You can either stay on the road and turn around at your preferred mileage, or a popular destination is the snowy meadows beneath White Chuck Mountain, which does require leaving the road.
Anyone heading to this area for a winter outing should have strong avalanche awareness since the road does contour beneath steep slopes, and routefinding skills if leaving the road.
Depending on the snow level and the road conditions, the Meadow Mountain Trailhead may not be a good option for a starting point and you may instead have to just drive up Forest Road 27 until you hit snow, then find a responsible place to park where you will not block traffic along the road.
