Hiking Purcell Mountain Trail

Take a steep climb through a timber harvest area on the Purcell Mountain Trail. This is the longer and more challenging route to Purcell Lookout. If you want a shorter outing, check out the Purcell Lookout entry.

If it's a workout you're after, start from this lower trailhead, and make your way to the summit of Purcell Mountain, the site of a former fire lookout.

Be sure to watch your step, as mountain beavers have been known to dig tunnels in the area and creating hazards for stock animals.
