Hiking Nolte State Park

On a 117-acre plot of land adjacent to Deep Lake in the Green River Gorge sits Nolte State Park. Before becoming a state park, this area blanketed with forests and rich in water served as a resort until the property was donated to the park system.

The expansive acreage of the park allows for a wide variety of activities, including hiking, biking, boating, fishing, swimming, bird and wildlife viewing, even lawn games such as horseshoes!

The loop trail around Deep Lake at Nolte State Park is a good option for cold, rainy days when you want to get out into the woods without venturing too far from the comforts of town.

It’s a quick, flat walk around the lake, and pretty enough to repeat several times for more of a workout.

Getting There

From Enumclaw, follow Highway 410 east to Farman Street North at the end of town and turn left. Farman turns into 284 Avenue SE and then into Veazie-Cumberland Road SE. The park will be on your left about five miles after the turn from Highway 410. There are plenty of signs along the way. Park on the right shoulder just past the entrance when the gates are closed in winter.
