The unofficial Mount Baring trail shares the parking lot with the Barclay Lake trail. A fairly well used climber's trail goes straight up to Mount Baring. The trail requires moderate navigational skills and possibly climbing equipment in bad weather.
After roughly 2000 feet in gain over a little over a mile one reaches the ridgeline. More significant climbing brings one to a notch. Ascent of this gully will vary with snow conditions and experience.
An ice ax is recommended during the spring and summer. After gaining a hundred feet or so the angle eases off and a cairned trail leads to the summit.
