Moses Coulee Preserve

Moses Coulee is a lesser-known but splendid coulee near Grand Coulee. Huge towering walls of basalt cliffs line both sides of the coulee and sagebrush as well as a lone cactus carpet the floor. This area offers miles upon miles of sights, sounds and smells. One can wander aimlessly, looking at rock formations and losing track of time and space, or utilize one of the faint hiker trails for a more structured visit.

There are two trailheads for this area: one is found 4 miles from the road, while the second, marked as Nature Conservancy is about two and a half miles from the road. Both trailheads have reasonably adequate offroad parking, but the further of the two allows for several vehicles to be parked near each other without hindering traffic flow.

Despite being in such a dry part of the state, several waterfalls run here, albeit not reliably. Bring water, if you plan to visit. Wind is also channeled through the coulee, and in spring and summer this provides a nice, warm, breeze.
