Stairs are the attraction at Mercerdale. The main stairway here includes 302 wooden steps climbing from Bicentennial Park to 74th Place SE, and several other locations offer plenty of ways to get your heart rate up.
Situated in the heart of downtown Mercer Island, this little park features trails, open space, picnic areas, a skateboard park and a children's play area, so there's always something to do here.
One popular undertaking is the Mercerdale workout: walk or run the quarter-mile loop trail, climb the 302 stairs in Bicentennial Park, then tackle some circuit training on the outdoor exercise equipment.
If you are hoping for something more low key, try a longer but slower pace on a 2.5-mile route as it switchbacks back and forth along the Upper and Lower trails, utilizing the connecting trails to ascend more than 850 stairs.
