Hiking Little Wenatchee River Road Snowshoe

Starting from the west end of Lake Wenatchee, this snowshoe along a snowy forest service road is a great way to get out in the snow on a relatively flat and wide trail. Side roads offer an uphill route to a viewpoint or you can meander down toward the river and turn back at any point you please.

Starting from the intersection of the Lake Wenatchee Highway and Little Wenatchee Road, begin walking along the Little Wenatchee Road.

After about 4 miles you’ll arrive at the first junction. If you would like to climb to a viewpoint, turn right here onto Forest Road 6502. After a mile you’ll reach another fork. Head right here onto Forest Road 6501 and go about a third of a mile until you reach yet another fork. Turn left onto Forest Road 212 and continue for about 2.5 miles until you reach the viewpoint. Once you leave Little Wenatchee Road you can also look for and follow the signs that point toward the view point.

If you opt out of this climb to the viewpoint, continue straight on Little Wenatchee Road. If you go an additional 2.2 miles from the turnoff to the viewpoint you’ll arrive at the junction with Road 6701. Take a left and go a few hundred feet to get down to the Little Wenatchee River, a good turnaround point.

Bring a good map of the area to keep up with the turns if you decide to take one of these side trips. This is also a good location to just walk down the main road until you feel like turning around.
