Enjoy this delightful trail in Olympic National Park. Despite a steep start, the trail is gently graded, ascending 8 miles from a valley and ending at the Hurricane Hill Trail.
Begin at 1100 feet and hike up, down, and all around as the trail ambles down to a lovely little river. You'll cross many well-built bridges, with plenty of photo opportunities. Stop to snap a shot of mushrooms, waterfalls, and old-growth trees that reside in the park.
This hike has some historical significance, too. Look for a metal spiral, a slinky-looking structure that once supported wooden water pipes. The trail winds around large basalt outcroppings, which can hide caves with overhanging ferns and mosses.
The way offers mostly smooth walking, but keep an eye out for roots, rocks, and muddy clay. Eventually, you'll arrive at the Hurricane Hill trail at 5600 feet of elevation.

Getting There
From the US-101 W, take a right onto the S Pine Street Cutoff in Port Angeles. Take your first left onto S Pine Street and continue onto Black Diamond Road. Follow this road for about 4.4 miles and then take a left onto Little River Road. The trailhead will be to your right.
