A new trail makes this hike a 5 mile round-trip gently graded, obstacle free hike to a broad summit with views of the Methow Valley. Elevation gain of about 900 feet. The trail has no shade and faces south so best done early in the day.
A small DNR parking lot on Gunn Ranch Road (whose entrance is currently unmarked) has a toilet and requires a Washington State Discover Pass. The trail starts back up on the opposite side of Gunn Ranch Rd and climbs all the way up the obvious hill. Take the first right fork to stay on the walking trail - ignore the double track road that climbs up to the left.
Enjoy expansive skies above your head and rolling hills dotted with wildflowers under your feet. Almost anywhere makes for a likely lunch spot, so simply walk until you feel like taking a seat, then rest and enjoy the views.
