Hiking Lakeview Trail

Follow a gentle, stroller-friendly slope for about a mile along the eastern and northern shores of scenic Lake Ballinger. You can extend your walk by continuing west along Lakeview Drive to the nearby Interurban Trail, or head east to explore the gravel forested path through Terrace Creek Park, 23200 48th Ave W, a popular destination for disc golf. Regardless of your route, the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center makes a good starting point.

To get to Lake Ballinger start from the Transit Center and head west on 236 Street, immediately crossing I-5. Stay on the north side of this overpass on the wide sidewalk. Follow the obvious path for a few hundred feet from the overpass to 65th Place where you can use a crosswalk to cross the road and connect with the paved path. From here you border a golf course for a short ways before arriving at the boat launch entrance. Turn in here to explore the expansive Lake Ballinger or continue on along the Lakeview Trail, eventually connecting with the Interurban Trail.

Around the lake, keep an eye out for herons, woodpeckers and eagles. A new fishing pier, boat ramp, boat dock and restrooms opened at Ballinger Park in 2022.
