A beautiful destination along the Chief Sealth Trail, Kubota Garden is gorgeous oasis where Northwest native plants are tended using a Japanese garden approach.
Started by master landscaper Fujitaro Kubota as he pioneered the use of native North American materals in his display garden in the early 20s, the garden was acquired by the City of Seattle from Kubota's estate in 1987.
The area is a spectacular, dynamic landscape of hills and valleys with water features like streams and waterfalls, bridges over ponds and the occasionally rocky cropping where one can sit quietly and simply bask in the gardens' beauty. Flowers burst forth in the spring, and the design shines even in winter.
