Located on the north side of Upriver Drive and just across the road from the Spokane River, John C. Shields Park is a popular gathering place for rock climbers on Minnehaha Rocks looming above the parking lot, and also provides trail access to the entire Beacon Hill network of a little over 27 total trail miles.
Access the interconnected trail system on the northeast side of the parking lot. Visitors can choose from shorter routes that stay low on the trails, or work their way up to the communications towers on Beacon Hill. The trail system is popular with mountain bikers, and tends to be quieter in the mornings or during the late fall through early spring season. Centennial Trail is also accessible from this parking lot.
