This park is just outside the city of Ellensburg along the Yakima River. The park is a long, narrow parcel that stretches between the river and I-90 and has a parking area on both ends. At the southern end, a small parking area with a restroom is a good place to start walking along the forested riverbank. The trail starts here and parallels the river all the way to the other end of the park in just under 2 miles.
The parking area on the northern end provides access to a boat launch and an off-leash dog park. From here, visitors can also connect to a paved path that leads under I-90 and into the town of Ellensburg, a great option for pedestrians or cyclists who want to access the river from the city or vice versa.

Getting There
From I-90 Eastbound:
Take exit 106, then take the first right onto Thorp Highway for 0.3 mile. Turn left onto Hanson Road then immediately left again onto Brown Road for 1.8 miles. Turn left to stay on Brown Road for another 0.9 mile, then turn left onto Umptanum Road. Just after this turn you’ll cross over the Yakima River then take the first left into the park. You can either park here or drive in on the access road to get to the other parking area.
From Westbound I-90:
Take exit 109. At the end of the off-ramp, turn right onto Canyon Road for half a mile, then turn left onto Umptanum Road for 1.0 mile. Turn right into the park entrance. You can either park here or drive 1 more mile in to a second parking area.
Take Transit:
Route 15 stops at the intersection of 5th Ave, and Pacific in Ellensburg. From this stop, walk one block west, then turn left into Rotary Park. At the entrance to this park, get on the paved path and walk on this for about three quarters of a mile to the park, passing beneath I-90 just before arriving.
