Hiking Ira Spring Wetland

Discover the true beauty of the Bogachiel Rain Forest on the Ira Spring Wetland trail. This short trail will take you on a loop through a fern forest and around a large wetland. It makes and excellent short hike or a fun side trip from the Bogachiel River trail.

While leashed dogs are allowed in on the Ira Wetland trail, they are NOT allowed in the Olympic National Park, the boundary of which is 1.6 miles along the Bogachiel River trail.

WTA volunteer crews have been working on improving the drainage issues and doing general maintenance on this lovely route.

Getting There

From Forks take US Highway 101 south for 5 miles. Turn left onto Undi Road, directly opposite from Bogachiel State Park. Drive 2 miles until the ‘Dead End’ sign. Turn left onto the bypass road, following signs for the Bogachiel trailhead. The bypass is about 2 miles long.

Come upon Undi Road once again, and turn left. Continue on Undi Road for 2 more miles until its end at the Bogachiel Trailhead, about 11 miles from Forks.
