Hiking Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) - Hyak to Windy Pass

This short section of the PCT heads south out of Snoqualmie Pass and to Windy Pass, where it is possible to access Mount Catherine, or do a longer loop before heading back towards the trailhead at Snoqualmie Pass.

Popular with both hikers and cross-country skiers, the route is doable year round, though those attempting it in the snow will want to be familiar with route-finding and confident on snowshoes or skis -- it's a long trip!

WTA Pro Tip: Save a copy of our directions before you leave! App-based driving directions aren't always accurate and data connections may be unreliable as you drive to the trailhead.

Getting There

From Seattle, drive east on I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass to exit 54, signed for Hyak. Continue to Hyak Dr. E and stop at the intersection with SE Snoqualmie Parkway. Park at the overflow parking lot of Hyak ski resort.

Then walk to SE Snoqualmie Parkway. The road changes to Snoqualmie Drive. The trailhead is at the curve. There is no obvious trailhead marker or sign. Note that private homes are in this area, so be sure to park your car in a place that you can leave it without inconveniencing homeowners.
