Hiking Hoffman Hill Trail

Tucked away in the neighborhood of Hoffman Hill, this trail this is the longest continuous trail in DuPont.

This wide trail offers gentle rolling terrain as you travel through a forest of tall trees and undergrowth. Find a variety of deciduous, evergreen, and Madrona trees along this trail. Watch for thick bright moss, stumps, nurse logs, salal, ferns, Oregon grape, holly and other plants along the way.

From Ridge View Drive, begin your hike on the trail on the east side of the road across from Andre Park signed as “City of DuPont Trail System HH 0.0 Miles”. The trail is clearly marked every 0.25 miles with City of DuPont Trail posts. Just after the HH 0.25 Miles trail marker, the trail will cross Hoffman-Hill Boulevard. Use the crosswalk and continue onto the trail directly across the road. After the HH 0.75 Miles a short hill climbs to towering Madrona trees and a cell tower.

At HH 1.0 Mile marker the trail continues through the trees and after another .25 miles, the trail crosses Hoffman-Hill Boulevard again. At 1.5 miles, this trail stops at Sinclair Drive.

At this point, you might turn around and go back the way you came to make this a 3 mile out and back.

Alternate Route option

You can also make this a loop just over 2 miles. To do this, take a right on the sidewalk along Sinclair Drive, cross Grant Avenue, then immediately cross Sinclair Drive to a connector trail without a name. Following this trail, turn left at the T then right at the Y. This will connect you to the KK–Brown Loop Trail. This section of the KK-Brown Loop Trail also provides forested trail and also provides glimpses of the waters of Nisqually Reach.
