Hiking Green Mountain - Davis Trail

This trail is in Green Mountain State Forest, a dynamic working forest that is certainly a land of many uses. The trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. Logging operations happen occasionally and can cause trail closures or reroutes.

A couple different trails leave from this trailhead. You want the one immediately to the left as you drive into the parking area. Start out on this trail (the Gold Creek Trail) for a little under half a mile before coming to the first junction. Stay straight for another tenth of a mile to the second junction. Going left will take you on a journey to the top of Green Mountain. Stay straight to get on the Davis Trail.

Once on the Davis Trail you will roughly parallel Gold Creek on a mostly flat route for 1.5 additional miles until the trail ends at a logging road. You can either turn around and head back on the same trail or devise a different route, combining logging roads and other trails in the forest. Just be sure to have a good map since all the intersecting roads and trails here can get confusing.
