Hiking Grass Mountain

The road leading up to the trail is in good shape, but recently cut, two foot deep, drainage trenches across it in several places make it challenging for low clearance vehicles. In winter, snow at about 2500 feet may deter all but the bold.

Hiking the logging road will give you an appreciation of the surrounding countryside. Views are continuous.

The peak is totally treeless and offers commanding views of the area. Be aware of snowmobilers and other trail users out here - the solitude at the peak can be broken by the sound of motors.

Head east on highway 410. Shortly after the Greenwater city limits, turn north on Slippery Creek Road (#7125). After .2 miles, turn right, and in another .2 mi. turn right again near a gated road. Park here for the long hike.
