Hiking Glacier Vista Snowshoe

Glacier Vista snowshoe is a shorter alternative to Panorama Point snowshoe, and the views from Glacier Vista are as good as those from Panorama Point. You can see all of the Tatoosh Range, Mount Adams and Mount St. Helens on a clear day, maybe even as far as Mount Hood on a really clear day. Mount Rainier is of course right in your face.

You start from Paradise parking lot, which is usually open year-round, though in winter chains are required to drive up the road from Longmire. Follow the trail between Jackson Visitor Center and Climbing Information Center towards Mount Rainier. There should be a clear track because this is a popular snowshoeing route. You may snowshoe anywhere except when the snow accumulation is low.

At 1.1 miles, you veer left towards Glacier Vista while many other snowshoers veer right to start climbing a steep slope towards Panorama Point. Soon you will reach Glacier Vista. Enjoy the views of snow-capped mountains. If you have extra time and energy, follow other snowshoers to Panorama Point. Otherwise return the way you came.
