These trails designed for cross-country skiing also offers routes in summer for mountain biking, family hiking, and horse use. Echo Ridge greets recreation enthusiasts with a variety of loop trails that have spectacular views of Lake Chelan, the Enchantments, Pyramid Peak, and the Okanogan Highlands. Note that there is an access fee during winter (see note below regarding passes).

Mountain bikers will find their ride enjoyable and challenging, while families will enjoy the easy open trails system. This concentrated network of loop routes serves for a good workout for the mountain biker or a nice leisurely hike for families. Please be considerate of other trail users; if you're not sure who yields to whom, brush up using WTA's resource on right-of-way

In winter, this trail system is primarily for Nordic skiers. There are limited trails open to snowshoers. These are designated on the map of the area. Please be respectful of the groomed Nordic trails and refrain from walking on them, with snowshoes or without.

A note on passes: Parking here is is a $10 per day fee. Northwest Forest Passes and Sno-Park Passes are not accepted at this trailhead. Season Passes ($70) are available by mid-November each year and can be purchased at the Chelan Ranger District at 428 West Woodin Ave, Chelan or at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce.  Online pass sales are available from the Lake Chelan Nordic Ski Club at http://www.lakechelannordic.org/index.php?page_id=218.

Getting There

From Chelan, travel 1.5 miles west on State Highway 150 toward Manson to Boyd Road and follow the signs to the ski area. Echo Ridge is approximately 30 minutes from Chelan.

There is also an extensive Nordic trail system at Echo Ridge. Find these about 9.5 miles from the town of Chelan. Follow the Manson Highway (SR-150) 2 miles to Boyd Road and turn right. Follow Boyd Road to Cooper Gulch Road, following signs to the Echo Valley Ski Area and snowmobile Sno-Park.

The county road ends at the Echo Valley downhill ski area. From this point, a plowed Forest Service road winds steeply uphill for about two miles where you’ll reach the main parking areas – Lower and Upper Echo Trailheads, both capable of holding about 50 vehicles.

These trailheads provide access to the best skiing. On your way up you’ll pass the Zoom Trailhead about 1 mile from Echo Valley which can hold 6 or 7 vehicles. Between the Zoom Trailhead and the Lower Echo Trailhead, there’s also a trailhead and small parking area named, The Shoe, giving access to snowshoeing trails
