Hiking East Fork Pasayten River

The East Fork Pasayten River trail meanders through a valley between Hidden Lakes Trail in the west and Larch Creek Trail in the east. Enjoy the refreshing sound and spray of the East Fork Pasayten River as you follow this trail through a burn area from 2006. If you are traveling east-to-west, you will see Two Point Mountain and Ashnola Mountain on your right and Dollar Watch Mountain and the distant Island Mountain on the left.

Beginning in the east and traveling west, the very first section of the trail involves a few switchbacks up to Dollar Pass, which encapsulate most of the elevation gain. They quickly fade into steady ascents and descents as you walk through the valley. The trail itself is not too difficult, however there are a number of blowdowns throughout the trail that require some traversing. Many hikers enjoy using this trail for backpacking through Hidden Lakes, Larch Creek, and accessing the Boundary Trail.

This trail is part of WTA's Lost Trails Campaign. Learn more about how we're saving lost trails across the state here.
